Cookie policy

Draft, pending legal reviewVersion of 7 November 2026

Which cookies and browser storage Sivamo uses, why we need them, how long they last and how you control them.

This text is a draft. It may change before it is final.

The short version

  • We use only our own cookies. We don't use advertising cookies or analytics from other firms.
  • Most of them sign you in and remember your group, your booking or your draft. Without them, Sivamo doesn't work.
  • Two cookies count visits and recommendations: tg_aid and tg_ref. Blocking them changes nothing in how Sivamo works.
  • Stripe, Google, Apple and Facebook set their own cookies only on their own pages, when you pay or sign in with them.
  • We don't sell what these cookies hold and we don't use it for advertising.

What cookies and browser storage are

A cookie is a small file a website saves in your browser and reads again on your next visit. Browsers also keep data for a site in other places on your device: local storage, session storage, IndexedDB and the cache of the service worker, which lets the app open without a connection. This policy covers all of them, and we call them “cookies” for short.

Our cookies are set by our server for the addresses of Sivamo: the site (sivamo.app), the app (my.sivamo.app) and its server (api.sivamo.app). The pages can't read them with scripts (HttpOnly), and they are not sent along when another site links to us in the background (SameSite=Lax). The storage in your browser stays on your device until it is deleted.

Strictly necessary

These cookies make the things you ask for work: signing in, joining a group, asking for a seat, keeping a draft. They are not used for anything else.

The app also keeps data on your device so that it works offline and doesn't lose what you started:

Counting visits and recommendations

These are not needed for Sivamo to work. Blocking them changes nothing for you.

Nametg_aidWhereCookieWhat it doesA random identifier, to count visits to departure pages, where a request came from, and the steps of making a departure in the app. When you create an account, we link it to the account once, to know where new accounts come from. How long365 days
Nametrip-grup.aidWhereLocal storage (app)What it doesThe same identifier, kept by the app.How longUntil you delete it
Nametg_refWhereCookieWhat it doesRemembers who recommended Sivamo to you, so they can get the reward for it.How long30 days

We use these counts only in our own statistics. We don't share them with advertisers and we don't use them to show you ads.

Other firms

Our pages don't load trackers or analytics from other firms. Some services act only when you use them:

  • Stripe: when you pay or set up payouts, you go to Stripe's own page (checkout.stripe.com and similar). Stripe sets its cookies there, under its own policy. We don't load Stripe's scripts on our pages.
  • Google, Apple and Facebook: only if you sign in with them. Their cookies are set on their own sign-in pages.
  • Cloudflare: delivers the site and the app. It doesn't put our trackers in your browser.
  • Sentry: receives error reports when something breaks, cleaned of personal data. It doesn't set cookies.
  • Map servers: your browser loads the map images from our map server and, as a fallback, from OpenFreeMap. They see your IP address, as any server you load something from.
  • Push services: if you turn on notifications, your browser registers with its own push service (Google, Apple or Mozilla).

How you control them

  • In your browser's settings you can see and delete cookies and site data, for each site or all at once, and block cookies.
  • Signing out deletes the sign-in cookie on that browser.
  • Leaving a group, or losing access to it, deletes that group's offline data from the device.
  • To delete everything at once, delete the site data for sivamo.app in your browser.

What stops working if you block them

  • Without the strictly necessary cookies you can't sign in, stay in a group without an account, keep a draft or finish a booking.
  • Without the storage in your browser, the app doesn't work offline and asks again for your preferences.
  • Without tg_aid and tg_ref nothing stops working; only the person who recommended Sivamo to you may not get the reward.

Changes

When we add, remove or change a cookie, we update this page and the version date at the top. The Privacy policy explains everything else about your data. Questions: privacy@sivamo.app.
